Naida’s Sugar Cookies

used for a base for filled raisin cookies (these were mom’s favorite cookies so we had them a lot. We didn’t like them as much, so she got all she wanted) She also used this recipe to make shaped iced cookies for Christmas

1 C shortening

1 C sugar

1 can milk

2 tsp vanilla

1 egg

3 – 4 C flour

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp soda

3/4 tsp salt

Mix, roll, cut into circles 3 – 4 ”

Raisin Filling

3 tbl flour

1/2 C sugar

1/2 c water

1 C raisins

1 tsp banilla

Cook raisins, water and sugar to boil. Add flour mixed with liquid to thicken. Add vanilla and stir.

Put a Tsp of filling in the middle of the circle of dough, fold over and finger seal the edges. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 – 12 min.
